The cover for the programme for the Library Theatre's first production, Circle Of Love by Eleanor D Glaser.
The play - like all the plays in the first season - was a world premiere by a playwright Stephen Joseph had encouraged on his playwriting courses.
Remarkably for both the period and a risky new theatrical venture, three of the four playwrights in the season were female. A season of four new plays, three of which were written by women presented in-the-round was a clear statement of intent by Stephen Joseph that he intended to break boundaries and shake up British theatre.
