Stephen Joseph: Obituaries

When Stephen Joseph died on Thursday 5 October 1967, aged just 46, his many notable achievements in British theatre were largely unrecognised by the wider public.
The obituaries published do, however, recognise his passion and commitment to theatre and offer an interesting appraisal of how Stephen was viewed both nationally and locally at the time of his death.
This page contains a list of known obituaries with reproductions of several of the more significant ones as well as the address given at Stephen's funeral.

It should be noted that Stephen Joseph's death is occasionally incorrectly given as 4 October 1967 (most notably The Times' obituary, printed on 6 October 1967). However his death certificate states the date as 5 October.
