Director Of Productions: Following the death of Stephen Joseph, the founder of Theatre in the Round at the Library Theatre in Scarborough, the company annually appointed a Director Productions for its summer seasons from 1967 to 1972; the role was essentially that of Artistic Director in all but name. The role was taken by: Rodney Wood (1967 - 1968); Alan Ayckbourn (1969 - 1970 and 1972); Caroline Smith (1971). At the end of the 2972 summer season, the permanent position of Artistic Director was offered to Alan Ayckbourn, who held the role until 2009.
