Vernon Road Car Park: The former car park on Vernon Road, Scarborough, was announced as the site of a new home for theatre in the round in 1976 with planning permission approved. It was announced with a goal of opening a purpose built theatre within two years. Despite this, the project was never realised and the site later became part of the Brunswick Pavilion shopping centre development.

Victoria Theatre:
The first purpose-built professional theatre in the round in England which opened in Stoke-on-Trent on 9 October 1962; as opposed to the first professionaltheatre in the round company which was founded at Theatre in the Round at the library Theatre, Scarborough, in 1955. The theatre was designed and founded by Stephen Joseph, its first Artistic Director. Alan Ayckbourn moved from Theatre in the Round at the Library Theatre, Scarborough, to become an Associate Director when the Victoria Theatre opened.. The company later moved to the New Vic Theatre, Newcastle-under-Lyme and still has close ties to the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough.
